Bingo love now available for Preorder

If you missed out on the super-successful Kickstarter, never fear. You can get the adorable queer black romance Bingo love from image Comics on February 14, 2018.

Written and created by Tee Franklin and illustrated by Jenn St-Onge (Jem and the Holograms: The Misfits: Infinite), Bingo love is an

80-page graphic novella that revolves around Hazel Johnson and Mari McCray, two thirteen-year-old black girls who, in no time, become the best of friends. As their relationship grows, they discover their deep love for one another, but the timing couldn’t be worse. two girls in love are bound to be star-crossed in 1963, and their families forbid them from seeing each other again.

As a Kickstarter backer, I’ve read the story, and it’s terrific. Franklin and St-Onge develop the friendship between the girls and show the pain and the resilience of getting on with life. The story goes further than I expected, with a section on coming out as older adults and how it affects them and their families. It’s charming and hopeful and a breakthrough.

Bingo love can be preordered from your local comic shop with diamond code DEC17 0648. There’s a new cover, shown here, by Genevieve FT. It’s a terrific deal at $9.99! and here’s a set of preview pages:
